Year 10 students have the opportunity to participate in one or two separate weeks of work experience during this year.
This is a great opportunity for students to find out more about careers of interest to them and to give them valuable experience and credentials.
The following points should be noted:
- Work experience is not compulsory but highly recommended
- Students can do work experience anytime between now and the end of Term 2 and after the School Certificate or during the Snowy Trip. You must also avoid exams.
- Students work a normal working week for their place of employment
- Students see Mr. Locker for documentation required
- All documentation must be correctly and fully completed and handed in to Mr. Locker at least one full week prior to the placement
- Students are encouraged to find a local placement, however out of district placements are possible for students who want to do something not available locally. You need to discuss this with me.
- Students on discipline levels are not eligible to do work experience
- Students are expected to behave in an appropriate manner whilst representing the school on work experience.
- Students are expected to catch up on ALL school work missed during work experience week.
- All general information has been given to your son/daughter so they can start organizing work experience. If you have any questions, please phone me at school.
- Students need to complete a general OHS task before they will be eligible for work experience (see p.2 for information).
- Students should not expect to get paid to work experience as the employers are doing students a favour.
- Always let the employer and the school know if there is some ‘last minute' problem concerning attendance e.g. sickness.
