Authentic Assessment

This is an excellent cross-faculty program and is very popular with Year 10 students and parents. The exercise involves formally interviewing Year 10 students to try and help them with their School to Work planning, but at the same time assess them across the year in English. Being an assessment task makes the interview much better as they are prepared, keen and willing to talk about themselves. It gives them excellent practice for interviews. The students are prepared by class English teachers and interviewed over a number of days by the Head Teacher English (or nominee), a business representative and the Careers Adviser. The English teachers help prepare the students for the interview and thus English and Careers are linked in the real world.

Career Interviews

Year 10 students have the option to choose Work Education as an elective with Years 11 and 12 able to choose Work Studies as an elective.  Please note Work Studies is a Board Endorsed Courses (BEC) and therefore cannot be used in the calculation of the ATAR.  All Year 10 students will be interviewed by Mr Cooper to develop their Personalised Learning Plan (PLP). These (PLPs) are used to assist students in establishing their best individual pathway for Years 11, 12 and post school.

Work Experience

Work Experience is available to all students across Stage 5 and 6 (Years 9 - 12).  Please see Mr Cooper to discuss available options and the compulsory pre-placement activities.

Student Interviews

Students can book an interview with Mr Cooper for careers counselling and subject selection.  Mr Cooper ensures all Year 12 students are interviewed before the HSC to discuss post school transition plans and options.
