At our school, we recognise and nurture these strengths early. We support advanced learners with great lessons and activities to help them grow and thrive and have invested heavily in resources that amplify their learning.

High potential and gifted education (HPGE) is how our school supports students with advanced learning needs.

We do this through:

The school has dedicated significant resources to provide the following Specialist HPGE opportunities. Please contact the school for information on how your student can become involved in one of these leading programs.

CHACE is our school-based curriculum extension program delivered in years 7 and 8. CHACE is designed to support students who demonstrate high potential in academic learning. Students in CHACE engage in enriched learning experiences, explicit teaching, and extended tasks that encourage deep thinking, problem-solving and academic growth across key learning areas. Entry to the CHACE classes is via an EOI process.

The Talented Athlete Program (TAP) supports students who demonstrate high potential in sport by providing flexible, school-based support that recognises the commitment required for training and competition. TAP promotes balance between sporting excellence, learning, wellbeing and engagement, enabling students to pursue their athletic goals while remaining connected to their education. TAP try-outs are held in term 4 every year, however students considering enroling at Chatham High School are encouraged to apply.

Chatham High School provides a range of creative and performing arts opportunities that support students with high potential in visual arts, music, drama and performance. Through performance opportunities, exhibitions and creative projects, students are encouraged to develop confidence, technical skill and creative expression.

Leadership Development is an important pathway for students with high potential in social-emotional and interpersonal domains. Through student leadership roles, SRC, Junior AECG, mentoring and school-wide initiatives, students develop confidence, responsibility and a strong sense of agency.

The School is proud to partner with organisations such as the Newcastle Knights to further our students opportunities.
